Developers of Potato Peeling Simulator Accused of Copying Another Game Using AI Technologies

The developer is extremely unhappy with what happened.

Polish indie developer Rado Klasa recently took to social media to voice complaints. According to him, Golden Horn Studios stole his idea for the potato-peeling simulator game 1,000,000 Potatoes.

He claims Radoslaw’s idea forms the basis of the new project Potato Please.

The concepts of the games are indeed similar, as seen in the first screenshot from 1,000,000 POTATOES and the second from Potato Please:

Radoslaw believes that the developers used AI technology to quickly copy his work:

This is the ultimate nightmare for any indie developer. I created this concept during a GMTK jam. I delayed publishing my Steam store page to perfect the game mechanics… and it was simply copied and released.

Due to the existence of AI technologies and fast developers capable of moving from an idea to a working prototype in the shortest possible time, some creators prefer to keep their ideas and developments under wraps for as long as possible. This allows them to minimize the time between announcement and release, reducing the risk of a clone appearing before their own project launches.

The creator of a game about finding a needle in a haystack found themselves in a similar “plagiarism” situation regarding their idea. A store page recently appeared on Steam for Needle In A Haystack Simulator: add the game to the wishlist
