Details of “It: Welcome to Derry” Season 2 Revealed
The second season of HBO’s horror series IT: Welcome to Derry will be bigger in scope than the first, and Pennywise will return in a radically different form. Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane shared the news in an interview with Deadline. He said the writers have finished roughly half of the scripts and received the production schedule. Director Andy Muschietti has also started casting.
The follow-up jumps ahead to 1935, at the height of the Great Depression. The story centers on the Bradley Gang, a crew of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy ammunition and run into a nightmare. Kane described the new season as a Warner Bros.-style gangster picture, complete with heists, shantytowns, street kids and religious fanaticism. Against this backdrop, a different version of Pennywise will appear, again played by Bill Skarsgård.
Season 2 takes place 27 years before the events of the first, which were set in 1962.
