Destiny 2‘s gearing up for a big year. A huge year, really. Maybe the biggest one it’s needed to date. But that yr of bigness will now begin just a little later, as a result of Bungie are delaying Destiny 2’s free-to-play relaunch, New Light, and its subsequent enlargement, Shadowkeep. Previously due on September 17th, they’re now each lined up for October 1st. Bungie say they wished a contact extra growth time and hey, they may give themselves that point now that they’re out from under Activision.
Shadowkeep will ship gamers again to the Moon (it stays haunted, you see) to meet up with Eris Morn and bash in some acquainted faces. It’s arriving alongside New Light, which is able to make the bottom game, its first two enlargement, and the PvEvP mode Gambit free for everybody to play with out dropping a penny. All this comes with a transfer from the Battle.internet consumer to Steam too. Altogether, that’s a variety of issues on the corporate calendar.
Bungie large males Luke Smith and Mark Noseworthy defined in today’s announcement that “it has become increasingly clear to us that [Shadowkeep and New Light] would benefit from a bit more time in the oven.” Rather than working themselves to the bone, they’ve determined to push the launch again.
“Being independent means that the future of Destiny 2 is entirely on our team,” the pair stated. “It also means that we’re agile enough to choose to do what’s best for the game and our players, even if it’s the hard choice.”
I’m not too eager on the prospect of reinstalling all of Destiny 2’s hundred gigs on one other consumer. But if it’s a side-effect of the crew attending to train extra management of their well being and schedules, that’s a concession I’ll settle for. Shadowkeep appears fairly neat and all, too. Big fan of moon magic.
