The premiere of the new Green Lantern series is two weeks away.

DC Studios and HBO have released two new clips for the series Lanterns. The first clip features a montage of old and new footage accompanied by a voiceover from Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, who recites the Green Lantern oath.

The second clip shows an extended version of a scene previously glimpsed in the trailer. In it, Hal Jordan uses a power ring to create a bottle opener out of green energy. The episode demonstrates one of the abilities of the Lanterns, which is the power to materialize practically any object using imagination and willpower. Neither clip is available publicly on YouTube, but both can be viewed via links on Twitter/X (clip 1, clip 2).

The series will take place in the small town of Rushville, Nebraska. Experienced Hal Jordan and rookie John Stewart will begin investigating a murder that may have an extraterrestrial origin. Gradually, the local crime will lead the heroes to a larger conflict threatening the entire DC universe.

Aaron Pierre plays John Stewart. The series also stars Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, and Kelly Macdonald as local Sheriff Kerry. The cast includes Garret Dillahunt, Jason Ritter, and Nicole Ari Parker.

Chris Mundy serves as the showrunner for the eight-episode project. He worked on the story alongside Damon Lindelof and comic book writer Tom King. Lanterns premieres on August 17 on HBO Max.
