Critics enjoyed “Vision’s Quest”
The initial wave of reviews for Marvel Studios and Disney+’s Vision Quest has arrived ahead of its streaming debut on October 14.
As of this writing, the series holds an 86% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a Metacritic score of 47 out of 100. Many critics have lauded the creative direction, hailing Vision Quest as a fitting conclusion to the television trilogy that encompasses WandaVision and Agatha All Along.
Conversely, some reviewers have pointed to a lack of originality, citing one-dimensional character development and predictable narrative arcs. The story centers on the resurrected Vision (Paul Bettany), who attempts to live an inconspicuous life as a human working in a London pub. When he becomes the target of a mysterious manhunt, Vision embarks on a journey through his own digital consciousness, leading to a fateful encounter with his creator, Ultron (James Spader).
The supporting cast features Rory Mollica, Emily Hampshire, Orla Brady, and James D’Arcy. The series was spearheaded by showrunner Terry Matalas (12 Monkeys), with Vincenzo Natali (Cube) directing several episodes. Vision Quest will span eight episodes.
