The second cour of “Gachiakuta” launches this week, bringing new characters, fresh musical themes, and the next chapter of the story to viewers.
The anime “Gachiakuta” won’t take a break between its two seasonal halves — episode 14, which opens the second cour, is scheduled for release on October 12. Ahead of the premiere, studio BONES unveiled a new trailer that highlights additions to the cast and the upcoming theme songs. The opening theme will be “LET’S JUST CRASH” by Mori Calliope, while the ending theme will be “BAN” performed by karanoah.
The opening can already be heard in the new trailer, whereas the ending has only been shown in a brief 15-second teaser. The full ending will debut on October 13 at 15:00 Moscow time. This will be karanoah’s first track recorded specifically for an anime.
New characters joining the cast include Guita, Noerde, Fu, and Bundus — their designs are displayed in the images below.
“Gachiakuta” adapts the manga of the same name, fusing elements of social drama, science fiction, and action. It follows a teenager named Rudo, who grew up in the city slums where refuse is dumped into a colossal Abyss. After being falsely accused, he is exiled below — to a place where the waste transforms into hostile monsters. Struggling to survive in this hazardous environment, Rudo encounters the “Cleaners”, an organization dedicated to combating the creatures.
The series is directed by Fumihiko Suganuma (“Charlotte”, “Train to the World’s End”), with a script by Hiroshi Seko (“Chainsaw Man”, “Vinland Saga”) and music composed by Taku Iwasaki (“Bungo Stray Dogs”, “New Kamen Rider”). Production is handled by studio BONES, known for “Fullmetal Alchemist” and “Mob Psycho 100”.
New episodes will be released weekly through December 14, 2025.
