Creator of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Urges Fans to Vote for a Different “Game of the Year”
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has become one of the frontrunners for Game of the Year 2025. Sandfall Interactive’s release has been earning enthusiastic praise from both critics and players for months.
However, game director Guillaume Brosh admitted the team never set out to chase awards. In an interview he described honors like GOTY as a welcome bonus, but said the real reward is the players’ response. He noted the studio has already surpassed expectations — hundreds of fan messages show Expedition 33 has become something personal for many.
Interestingly, Brosh confessed he’s more of a fan of Megabonk — the popular bullet‑hell roguelike — than his own title. With a grin he admitted he spends far too much time in it: “Megabonk is my entire life. Help me!” the developer joked, adding that he truly celebrates his colleagues’ successes in this busy year of releases.
And it’s easy to see why — 2025 is packed with major debuts: Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, Hades II, and Silent Hill f. For Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to be mentioned alongside those names is an accomplishment in itself. If Brosh ever manages to tear himself away from Megabonk, he might even have the chance to toast his own victory.
