For some of the people involved in making the game, their first encounter with video games came only after they joined Sandfall.
Lead writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen recently told Lits Play about some of her inspirations and about her experience with games prior to working on Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
As it turned out, she had no prior experience with video games:
“To be honest, I hadn’t played any video games before. I was raised in a very strict Chinese household and I’m the eldest. Back then video games were very expensive, so I never had exposure to them. I used to go to the library and read books.”
Before joining Sandfall Interactive, Jennifer only played tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons.
After joining the studio she decided she needed to do some ‘homework’, so together with her husband (who also played) she started with the Borderlands series:
“Now we have two TVs and two PlayStations and sit side by side. I’m a trophy hunter — I have platinum trophies in Elden Ring, God of War, and God of War: Ragnarok. You could say I play a lot of games these days.”
