Chrissy Teigen Hopes Revealing Her Ozempic Use Will Help Her Kids Feel Better About Themselves
Chrissy Teigen Says Her Openness About Ozempic Is Intended to Reassure Others — Including Her Children

Chrissy Teigen says she chose to speak candidly about using a GLP‑1 medication so others — including her children — might feel less alone when making personal health decisions.
In an interview with People published on Oct. 11, Teigen explained why she decided to disclose that she’d tried Ozempic following a miscarriage that left her struggling with her body image and confidence. She previously discussed turning to GLP‑1 treatment on her Self‑Conscious podcast in September, describing how the loss affected her relationship with her physical self.
Teigen and husband John Legend are parents to Luna (9), Miles (7), Esti (2) and Wren (1). The couple announced in October 2020 that they had suffered the heartbreaking loss of a son they had named Jack — an experience that Teigen has said contributed to a period of deep sadness and a sense of disconnection from her body.
Rather than framing her decision as something to hide, Teigen told People she wanted transparency so families and individuals would feel less pressure to present a flawless exterior. “Since social media began, I’ve always wanted people to understand that what you see isn’t the whole story,” she said, noting that openness can help others feel safer about their own choices.
“I would want my daughter — or son — to know that it’s not about pretending to be perfect. It’s about being honest about what helps you feel better,” Teigen said.
Teigen is among a number of public figures who have discussed using GLP‑1 medications — drugs commonly prescribed for diabetes that some patients and prescribers have also used to support weight loss. Celebrities such as Lizzo and Fat Joe have publicly discussed similar treatments, and Kelly Clarkson has acknowledged trying a comparable medication during her own weight‑loss efforts.
Yet Teigen emphasized that changing one’s weight does not guarantee emotional fulfillment. She stressed that while people can choose what makes them feel healthy and confident, those choices won’t necessarily resolve deeper feelings of unhappiness: “Losing weight won’t magically fix everything — it’s not the same as being emotionally fulfilled.”
