Taylor Swift Gives a Thumbs-Up After Chiefs’ Chris Jones Sings “The Fate of Ophelia”

Kansas City defensive tackle Chris Jones made a playful gesture of fandom for his teammate’s famous fiancée, and pop superstar Taylor Swift noticed.
At a press conference captured on video and shared to TikTok on October 30, 2025, Jones entered the room with Swift’s Hot 100 hit “The Fate of Ophelia” blaring from his phone. Smiling broadly, he mouthed along — “… on the land, the sea …” — as the song played, a lighthearted moment that quickly circulated online.
As he left the junket, Jones hit “play” again, bobbed his head to the beat and turned up the volume. “Y’all take care!” he called out while reporters laughed at the offhand display of fandom.
One viewer of the clip was Swift herself: the artist gave the video a “like,” effectively endorsing the moment. She’s been reacting to numerous TikTok posts featuring the track, including a clip of young dancers performing original choreography at a wedding and another of a child reciting the song’s lyrics. “The Fate of Ophelia” was released on October 3, 2025 as part of Swift’s album The Life of a Showgirl. The single has held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks, and Swift recently issued a stripped-down rendition titled “The Fate of Ophelia (Alone in My Tower Acoustic Version)” as she pursues a fourth week at the summit.
Jones isn’t the only member of the Chiefs showing appreciation for the Shakespeare-inspired song. On October 27, 2025, tight end Travis Kelce celebrated his historic 100th regular-season touchdown by performing a bit of Swift’s “Fate of Ophelia” choreography in the end zone — a moment made sweeter by Swift’s presence in the stands. That touchdown now ties Kelce with Priest Holmes for the most regular-season TDs in Chiefs history.
Despite her demanding Showgirl rollout (and the attention surrounding her personal life), Swift has been a frequent spectator at Kelce’s home games this season.
