“Cheburashka 2” has swiftly crossed the billion-ruble threshold, reaching this impressive milestone just two days into its theatrical run, according to data from the EAIS.
This marks the 40th domestic production in Russian cinema history to achieve such a feat. At the time of writing, the film’s total earnings have climbed to ₽1.522 billion.
In the sequel, the beloved protagonist is maturing and begins to challenge Gena’s (Sergey Garmash) guidance. The story follows Cheburashka and his companions as they venture into the mountains, escaping the watchful eyes of the adults, where they encounter a mysterious new character.
Directed by Dmitry Dyachenko, the film features Olga Kuzmina returning as the voice of Cheburashka. The ensemble cast also includes Elena Yakovleva, Fyodor Dobronravov, Polina Maksimova, and Eva Smirnova.
The original “Cheburashka” premiered in 2023 and became a massive commercial success, grossing more than 6 billion rubles.
