Chance Explains Chicago Political System in Goofy New Video: Watch

Chance the Rapper has launched a brand new video satirizing and explaining Chicago’s Aldermanic System. The 15-minute visible stars Chance as Champ Bennett, an investigative reporter for Chicagoist who interviews pedestrians, candidates for Chicago’s upcoming Aldermanic elections, and Hannibal Buress, who stars as a cynical 75-year-old Alderman named Al Durham. In the video, titled “Elderly Alderman,” Chance discusses the function of Chicago’s Aldermen, who govern town’s 50 wards. Along with Aldermanic hopefuls, Chance explains the various components that could be stopping youthful and extra various candidates from being elected, specifically that candidates can’t run if they’ve been convicted of a felony, or in the event that they owe a penny of debt or tax {dollars} to town. At one level, in response to the strict necessities for Aldermanic candidacy, Chance says, “wow, that shit sounds racist.”

Chicago’s Aldermanic elections are February 26, 2019.
