Chance the Rapper has released a new video satirizing and explaining Chicago’s Aldermanic System. The 15-minute visual stars Chance as Champ Bennett, an investigative reporter for Chicagoist who interviews pedestrians, candidates for Chicago’s upcoming Aldermanic elections, and Hannibal Buress, who stars as a cynical 75-year-old Alderman named Al Durham. Watch it all go down below.

In the video, titled “Elderly Alderman,” Chance discusses the role of Chicago’s Aldermen, who govern the city’s 50 wards. Along with Aldermanic hopefuls, Chance explains the many factors that may be preventing younger and more diverse candidates from being elected, namely that candidates cannot run if they have been convicted of a felony, or if they owe a penny of debt or tax dollars to the city. At one point, in response to the strict requirements for Aldermanic candidacy, Chance says, “wow, that shit sounds racist.”

Chicago’s Aldermanic elections are February 26, 2019.

Chance the Rapper’s last studio LP was 2016’s Coloring Book. Earlier this week he shared two brand new songs. Listen to Pitchfork‘s In Sight Out interview with Chance the Rapper.
