Chainsaw Man Movie Set for Streaming Release

Following a triumphant theatrical run and its recent digital debut, Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc is officially scheduled to join the Crunchyroll library this spring. While blockbusters like Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle may have captured the financial headlines of 2025, the Reze Arc solidified itself as a cultural phenomenon and a fan favorite.

The film’s critical reception was peerless, securing the title of the highest-rated movie on Letterboxd last year. Its social media presence was equally dominant; a viral clip of the film’s lead, Reze, dancing to the melodic theme “Iris Out,” remains one of the most-liked videos in the history of X/Twitter. Despite its indie-spirit acclaim, it was also a commercial heavyweight, grossing over $160 million worldwide.

Directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and crafted by the renowned studio MAPPA, the movie serves as a direct canonical bridge following the events of the anime’s first season. The story explores a new side of Denji’s life when he encounters the enigmatic Reze, sparking a conflict that is as much about his emotional vulnerability as it is about survival. Crunchyroll’s synopsis notes that Denji must navigate hidden agendas and “rev up for his deadliest battle yet” while fighting to retain his humanity.

Critics have highlighted the film as an accessible entry point for those new to the franchise. The English dub features the returning talents of Ryan Colt Levy (Denji), Alexis Tipton (Reze), Suzie Yeung (Makima), Sarah Wiedenheft (Power), and Reagan Murdock (Aki). The Japanese cast is led by Kikunosuke Toya and Reina Ueda, supported by Tomori Kusunoki, Fairouz Ai, and Shôgo Sakata.
