CDPR compares The Witcher 3 remaster and original graphics, drawing mixed reactions from players

Questions have now been raised regarding the quality of the remaster.

CD Projekt RED is preparing for the upcoming launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered. The developers recently published a short gameplay teaser.

They decided to compare the graphics using a combat scene where Geralt encounters a group of drowned dead. Judging by player reactions, not everyone is impressed with the new version, and there is an opinion that the remaster looks worse than the original game.

In the presented teaser, Geralt uses the Igni sign and then attacks enemies with flame. Although the main character’s armor looks more detailed in the remaster, the water clearly falls short of the original game.

If you look closely at the original, which is shown in the lower part of the video, you can see that the fire effect from the Igni sign reflects in the water. The quality of this reflection is far from ideal, but the mere presence of such an effect in the old version is impressive, while the modern remaster lacks this effect for some reason.

The release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered on PC and consoles is scheduled for September 29. The story expansion Songs of the Past is expected to release next year.
