Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago) is set to take the lead in the upcoming psychological thriller Cupid. The casting news was officially confirmed by Deadline.
The plot centers on a couple on the brink of separation who seek the help of an unorthodox family therapist to mend their fractured relationship. However, they soon discover that her therapeutic techniques are far more sinister and sadistic than they ever could have imagined.
The film will be directed by Tate Taylor (The Help, Ma), based on a screenplay by the Van Dyke brothers, who previously worked on Don’t Worry Darling. Principal photography is scheduled to commence this summer and run through the fall.
Zeta-Jones has recently been active with the second season of Wednesday and her role in the dark comedy The Galley, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
