Capcom Not Worried About Resident Evil Leaks

Kosi Nakanishi, the game director of Resident Evil: Requiem, stated that leaks about the series do not bother him — he even finds a silver lining in them. He believes such leaks reflect strong fan interest in Capcom’s projects and a keen desire to learn as much as possible about the game’s future.

At the same time, he warned that some people should approach leaks and unofficial reports with greater caution, since it’s unfair to criticize the studio based on rumors that circulate outside the development team. Nakanishi said:

“I personally view it as a positive indicator: fans are so invested that they seek out unreleased information, discuss it, and speculate online. It demonstrates their passion and engagement.”

For the director, such attention also signals that the audience is likely willing to buy the game — but not every rumor is accurate, and the true details will only be confirmed after release.

Addressing the possibility of intentionally spread false information, Nakanishi noted that there are already plenty of rumors. Producer Kumazawa added that while leaks themselves don’t upset him, what he finds frustrating is when fans treat unofficial information as if it were official.

“They shape their expectations from rumors and then feel betrayed when reality doesn’t match, even though we never made those promises. The issue is that those rumors in their minds become accepted as fact.”
