Capcom Explains Strategy for Releasing Three Resident Evil Titles Simultaneously on the Switch 2

Capcom is preparing a substantial treat for survival-horror fans. In early 2025, three titles from the Resident Evil franchise are set to arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The console will receive Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, and the brand-new Resident Evil Requiem all on the same day. This approach aims to engage both newcomers and long-time followers of the series.

Why release three games at once? Masato Kumadzawa from Capcom explained that it started with a test run of Village on the Switch 2, which performed remarkably well. That encouraged the team to evaluate Requiem, and when it also delivered excellent results, including Resident Evil 7 became the obvious choice. According to the developers, launching the trio simultaneously will let players effortlessly step into the modern era of Resident Evil—whether they begin with the seventh entry or jump straight to the newest release.

The release of Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem on Switch 2 is scheduled for February 27, 2026. Initial footage of Requiem on the new console has already been published. The Switch 2 will offer a single platform where players can experience the full current lineup of the series without waiting for separate ports or updates.
