Candace Owens is giving her two cents on Beyoncé.
The conservative commentator responded on her Candace podcast to an Instagram post by Bey’s mother, Tina Knowles, refuting claims that the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer was paid to speak at Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally in Houston, Texas, last month. “Beyonce did not receive a penny for speaking at a Presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harrris’s Rally in Houston,” Knowles wrote. “In fact she actually paid for her own flights for her and her team, and total Glam. They are not only lying and disrespecting Beyonce’s name but they are trying to further discredit the power of our vice president! When does the lies and rumors stop? Of course you won’t see this in the news !!!!!”
On her podcast, Owens recalled, “I was having a totally normal weekend, went to the farmers market with the kids, the toy store, and then someone texted me and said that Beyoncé’s mommy came for me on Instagram. I said, ‘What? Excuse me? Tina Knowles? What have I done to deserve this?’ This is so wrong.”
She then began to target Bey directly. “Beyoncé hasn’t had a good album since Four… So Beyoncé and her mommy targeted me – this is my belief – because I am emblematic of something that frustrates them,” Owens explained. “It’s a changing economy in the world. What has always worked for them in the past is no longer interesting to the public. This is an economy where authenticity pays. Beyoncé does not remember what it means to be authentic anymore. She’s been playing a role of a queen for so long. She’s grown accustomed to visit the commonwealth every four years.”

Owens added, “Beyoncé is used to black women bowing down to her. There’s nothing [Beyoncé does] that I respect.”
Bey and Knowles have yet to respond to Owens’ comments. Billboard has reached out to the superstar’s reps.
