Cahiers du Cinéma Names the Year’s Best Films

The influential French film magazine Cahiers du Cinéma has revealed its top ten films of 2025.

Leading the list is the Spanish documentary “Days of Solitude” by Albert Serra. The film follows the everyday life of a matador. It premiered in competition at last year’s San Sebastián Film Festival, where it was awarded the top honor, the Golden Shell.

Occupying the second spot is Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Battle After Battle.” The complete list is shown below.

Last year the magazine selected Alain Guiraudie’s “Mercy” as its best film.
