The legendary French cinema icon Brigitte Bardot has passed away at the age of 91. Her death was officially confirmed by the regional news outlet Nice Matin.
Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Bardot was undergoing intensive treatment for pulmonary insufficiency. In October, she was hospitalized for a major surgical procedure which was initially described as a success.
Bardot became a global sensation during the 1950s and 60s, defining an era of international cinema. She remains most famous for her captivating roles in such classics as And God Created Woman, Contempt, The Truth, Babette Goes to War, and La Parisienne, among many others.
