During the Oct. 18 stop of The Boy Is Mine Tour at Chicago’s United Center, Brandy exited the stage earlier than expected while co-headlining with Monica. She completed much of the show, but her sudden departure meant the audience did not hear the duo’s signature duet, “The Boy Is Mine.”

The following day, Brandy addressed the incident on Instagram, saying the exit was prompted by a health issue. In her statement she explained that after weeks of continuous rehearsals she became dehydrated and felt faint, and that those around her prioritized her safety.

Brandy said she attempted to return to the performance, but technical constraints and vocal limitations made it impossible to reconnect fully with the production. She expressed appreciation for the crew’s efforts and thanked Monica for stepping in with grace and professionalism.

According to her post, Brandy sought medical attention locally on Oct. 18 and planned to resume the tour the next day. She asked fans for patience and understanding, and said she looked forward to returning to the stage “stronger and more grateful than ever.”

After the Indianapolis show on Oct. 19, the pair have a three-day break before performing together in Nashville on Oct. 24. The co-headlining run continues through Dec. 14 in Jacksonville, Fla.
