South Korean director Bong Joon‑ho (Parasite) has announced that his next project is due to be released in 2027.
“I’m right in the middle of filming. It’s wild and gruelling work,” the filmmaker said in an interview with Deadline while attending the Marrakech Film Festival.
The film is an untitled animated feature Bong has been developing since 2001. It will explore the relationships between deep‑sea creatures and humans, and is inspired by Claire Nouvian’s book Depth: The Mysterious World of Oceanic Abysses.
One of the characters will be voiced by Werner Herzog. This year Bong Joon‑ho released the sci‑fi film Mickey 17.
