Black Ops 7 Mentions NFTs — But Only as a Joke

At least tokens got a mention somewhere.

Not long ago, numerous game studios were claiming NFTs were the industry’s future — today tokens and their owners frequently find themselves the butt of jokes.

In Black Ops 7’s Zombies mode, where you earn currency for dispatching enemies, David Mason quips: “So what are we supposed to do with the money? Don’t tell me it’s some kind of long-term investment, like NFTs.”

While many players laughed at the gag, a lot of fans are unhappy Activision didn’t bring back Rich McDonald, who voiced David Mason in Black Ops 2, and feel that Milo Ventimiglia’s rendition doesn’t quite sell the character.
