Beginning October 9, 2025, Billboard China will team up with QQ Music and JOOX — both part of Tencent Music Entertainment Group (TME) — to introduce the new monthly initiative, “Star Power.”
The program pairs Billboard China’s international reach with Tencent Music’s extensive domestic catalog and platform capabilities. Its goal is to elevate standout Chinese songs and artists onto the global stage through a structured, recurring selection process.
Each month the selection unfolds in three stages: nomination, recommendation and publication. At the start of the month, QQ Music and JOOX will surface 100 of the most current hit tracks. Listeners can participate through an open voting channel, and the final roster will combine fan preferences from both services with evaluations from Billboard’s expert panel. The month’s picks will be revealed near the end of the cycle and will receive coordinated online and offline promotion, carry Billboard’s official endorsement, and be showcased across Billboard’s website and social channels.
Beyond promotion, the selection will support Tencent Music’s nonprofit initiatives by converting the program’s Power Index into philanthropic resources. Those funds will back the Music Garden Space in Beichuan, Sichuan, expanding access to music and arts education for children in remote and ethnically diverse communities.
The “Star Power” monthly selection represents a deeper collaboration between Billboard and TME — combining impartial expert assessment with significant promotional reach to help exceptional Chinese artists find broader international audiences and foster sustained growth for the genre worldwide.
