“Battleship Potemkin” to Return to Theaters

K24 has announced a reissue of Sergei Eisenstein’s landmark film Battleship Potemkin. The re-release is scheduled for January 29, 2026, to commemorate the film’s 100th anniversary.

The story is drawn from the real sailors’ mutiny of 1905. The film captured major social currents of the twentieth century, and its pioneering formal techniques had a lasting impact on the development of cinema.

The distributor says it will present a restored print that was prepared at the Mosfilm studio in 1976. Dmitri Shostakovich assembled the musical accompaniment, and Naum Kleiman acted as the film’s scholarly consultant.
