Some beta participants voiced dissatisfaction that every class had access to the entire arsenal.
Electronic Arts has announced that Battlefield 6 will launch with support for two distinct class systems available from day one. The shooter will give players the option to select playlists featuring “Open Classes,” where weapons and equipment are largely unrestricted, or “Closed Classes,” which enforce traditional role-based limitations.
Developers also note that testing data shows an overwhelming majority of players prefer the “Open Classes,” citing the appeal of greater flexibility and variety.
Earlier reports revealed that the developers have restricted which grenade types certain specialist classes can equip.
Battlefield 6 is scheduled to release on October 10 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
