With its newest patch, 1.eight.zero, Blizzard have formally retired ‘Battle.web’ branding of their recreation launcher app.
Many of the best games on PC have been fired out of the pleasant corners of a Battle.web window.
If it hasn’t occurred already, the following time you begin Battle.web, you’ll seal its destiny. A small replace is downloaded, and once you restart, ‘Blizzard app’ will rise from Battle.web’s grave. The cool, vaguely atomic brand manufactured from six swirls can be changed, with Blizzard’s brand skulking cramped in its nook. A bit ‘What’s New’ message pops up, saying, with breathtaking nonchalance, “we’ve given the App a small makeover to make you feel more at home in the Blizzard universe.”
Battle.web is greater than 20 years outdated, you realize. It was launched on November 30, 1996, with the discharge of Diablo. Blizzard announced the decision to retire the title six months in the past, nearly to the day, citing “occasional confusion and inefficiencies related to having two separate identities under which everything falls.”
Tradition sacrificed within the title of effectivity – simply the way in which of the fashionable world, I suppose.
