Fans quickly recognized their favorite actress, but she took a long time to understand what role they were asking her about.

Actress Devora Wilde, who is known to many gamers for her role as Lae’zel in Baldur’s Gate 3, also participated in another hit project. However, due to contract specifics, she did not believe it right away when players began discussing her work in the action game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

During a conversation with IGN, Devora shared memories of how players first drew her attention to the fact that her voice could be heard in the Saber Interactive studio game:

When this game came out, I started getting comments like, “Oh, you’re in Space Marine 2!” And I was like, “No, I’m not. What even is that?”

Devora Wilde remained quite skeptical for some time until players stopped just leaving comments and started sending her audio clips of voice lines from Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Then she thought, “Hmm, that sounds like me.”

The actress said that people at the time talked about how the voice from Space Marine 2 “sounds a lot like Lae’zel”:

And then I thought, “It looks like that’s me.” I had to dig through my belongings and emails to match the game’s codename with the real one. In the end, I realized that I really did work on this game.

In Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Devora voiced a servo-skull and one of the soldiers. After listening to the lines, the actress thought, “Oh, that’s me. I am the audio recording.”

Actors often do not know which exact game they are working on because developers conceal some of the information. Therefore, situations sometimes arise where performers discover with surprise that they once voiced a particular character.
