Australian Authorities Remind Workers About Leave Options for GTA 6 Launch Day
The Fair Work Ombudsman, an Australian government agency responsible for protecting workers’ rights, has addressed taking time off work for the release of GTA 6 on November 19 through an Instagram post explaining proper leave rules.
In the post, representatives explained how workers can and cannot take time off work for major events like the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.
If employees run out of paid leave, the agency states they should not use emergency leave, take time off to care for a sick family member (up to two days), or use parental leave for the arrival of a new baby, which can last up to 12 months. The only proper option is to negotiate unpaid leave with an employer, agreeing on the timing and conditions.
This guidance applies only to Australians and their National Employment Standards. Residents of other countries must follow local laws to take time off work and play GTA VI.
