Assassin’s Creed Shadows arrives on December 2, 2025 for the Nintendo Switch 2. The game runs in a single display mode, making it straightforward to compare with the PS5 and Xbox Series S versions.
Bringing the Switch 2 edition to market was a major challenge for Ubisoft: the studio had to adapt an expansive open world and a dual-protagonist narrative to a compact handheld platform.
Visually, the Switch 2 build trails the other platforms: lighting, texture detail, shadows, animations, draw distance and reflections have all been scaled back. Even so, the game retains a strong visual identity and effectively conveys the atmosphere of the late Sengoku era.
The resolution on Switch 2 approaches that seen in Star Wars Outlaws when DLSS is used to sharpen the image. Performance remains the primary issue: sustaining a steady 30 FPS is challenging, particularly in dense urban districts with many NPCs. Ubisoft has optimized the port to deliver basic playability in both docked and handheld modes.
Future patches are expected to improve FPS stability.
