The countdown to Ariana Grande’s next musical era is officially underway. On Monday, May 18, the pop superstar delighted fans by sharing a tantalizing teaser for “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” the lead single from her highly anticipated project, Petal.

The brief, monochromatic clip pairs striking portraits of the artist with fragmented, stylized text of the song’s title. Sonically, the preview is haunting and ethereal—featuring manipulated, water-like textures that create a disorienting yet captivating atmosphere. True to the nature of a teaser, the snippet remains instrumental, keeping the vocal performance under wraps for now.

Listeners won’t have to wait long for the full experience; the track is scheduled for release on May 29. It will stand as one of the 12 featured tracks on Petal, which is set to arrive on July 31.

Grande collaborated with hitmakers Max Martin and ILYA to produce the record. Regarding the song, the singer has already expressed deep personal affection for it, labeling it as one of her absolute favorite compositions to date.

Following this release, the Wicked star will embark on her long-awaited Eternal Sunshine Tour—her first major concert run in six years. Kicking off on June 6, the 41-date tour will traverse North America, hitting major hubs like Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago before culminating in a grand 10-show residency at London’s O2 Arena.
