Ariana Grande has been operating at full throttle in recent years, expertly balancing the release of her Eternal Sunshine album with the blockbuster Wicked press cycle and the expansion of her R.E.M. Beauty empire. However, thanks to a subtle yet unmistakable editing anomaly in a new photoshoot, she might finally have the “extra hands” needed to juggle her massive workload.

On Thursday (Jan. 29), the multi-platinum vocalist delivered a witty response after eagle-eyed fans spotted a digital mishap in her Vogue Japan editorial. In one particular frame, where Grande leans against a wall in a sophisticated floral blouse with her hand raised toward the lens, she appears to possess a sixth finger. “holy s–t,” she commented on a fan’s Instagram post that highlighted the glitch.

She continued to lean into the humor, adding in a follow-up comment: “oh my goodness how exciting ! i’ve been saying i need some extra appendages so that i can start an album ! thankful for this.”

The timing of the gaffe is particularly ironic given that Grande’s Vogue Japan cover story focused heavily on her grueling itinerary. She candidly admitted to the publication that she currently lacks the bandwidth to produce a successor to her 2024 chart-topping LP. “You’ll have to clone me!” she joked when asked about the prospects of AG8.

Even without a new album in the immediate works, Grande’s schedule remains relentless. After finishing production on a Meet the Parents sequel last October, she is currently prepping for a limited summer tour—a run she recently characterized as her “last hurrah” during an interview on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast. Her upcoming slate also includes a voice role in Jon M. Chu’s animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go and a 2027 West End debut in Sunday in the Park With George alongside Jonathan Bailey.

“I think that it would probably be healthy to [take a break],” she confessed to the magazine. “I’m not used to taking breaks. But yeah, these past few years have been pretty nonstop. And by few, I mean 15.”
