Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Régine Chassagne Split After 22 Years of Marriage, Share Plans for Band’s Future

Arcade Fire confirmed on October 30, 2025, that Win Butler and Régine Chassagne have decided to separate after 22 years together. The band’s Instagram statement described the split as the result of “a long and loving marriage” and said the couple has chosen to part ways.

The post emphasized that Butler and Chassagne continue to “love, admire and support each other” as they share parenting responsibilities for their son. The band also reassured fans that the pair’s creative partnership and Arcade Fire itself will persist.

“The band send their love and look forward to seeing you all on tour soon,” the statement added, underlining that the group intends to carry on with its musical commitments.

Butler and Chassagne’s relationship dates back to 2001, when they met while studying at McGill University and co-founded Arcade Fire. The two married in 2003 and became parents in 2013.

In 2022, a Pitchfork report included allegations of sexual misconduct involving Butler. He subsequently acknowledged having had extramarital relationships with some of the individuals who came forward, denied any nonconsensual behavior, and issued an apology to anyone he had hurt. At the time, Chassagne publicly expressed her continued support for him and for the life they built together.

Earlier in 2025, Arcade Fire released the album Pink Elephant and then completed the Don’t Think About Pink Elephant Tour, which ran from April into May.
