Oscar-winning filmmaker Sean Baker, known for “Anora,” has wrapped production on a new short titled «Sandiwara» created for the fashion house Self-Portrait.
Michelle Yeoh — celebrated for her role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once” — leads the film. It follows her journey through the Malaysian state of Penang, the actress’s birthplace. The title “Sandiwara” comes from Indonesian and means “theatre.”
The project is being billed as a vibrant celebration of womanhood, cultural identity, culinary heritage and the spirit of independent cinema. Its premiere is planned for early 2026.
