Anime “Demon Slayer: The Infinite Fortress” became the highest-grossing foreign release in U.S. history

The latest feature-length entry in the “Demon Slayer” franchise continues to pile up record after record.

As the film plays in theaters, Demon Slayer: The Infinite Fortress keeps smashing box-office milestones, even outstripping some celebrated classics of world cinema.

According to Global Box Office, the picture has taken in $128.63 million in the U.S. over the course of a month — and ticket sales for future showings are still ongoing.

Box Office Mojo reports the film has become the highest-grossing international release in U.S. history, surpassing Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which had earned $128.53 million.

This is not the first record set by The Infinite Fortress. Since its Japanese premiere on July 18 and its U.S. debut on September 12, the film has already claimed the title of highest-grossing anime movie ever, overtaking Mugen Train from the same franchise.

It has also out-earned blockbusters such as DC’s Superman and Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps, ranking as the fifth highest-grossing release of 2025 with cumulative worldwide takings exceeding $648 million.
