Analysts Predict Steam Will Generate Over $20 Billion in Revenue in 2024
An analysis of the 1,000 most profitable games shows that 83% of titles ranked from 101st to 1,000th were released before 2026.
According to estimates from analytics firm Alinea Analytics, Steam generated roughly $15 billion in gross revenue during the first eight months of the year, which is about 15% higher than the same period in 2025. If current trends continue, the annual figure will exceed $20 billion.

An analysis of the 1,000 most profitable games shows that among positions from 101st to 1,000th, 83% were released before 2026. Two-thirds of these games have been out for at least two years, and 51% of this group’s revenue in 2026 comes from projects that have earned more than $50 million all-time since launch.
According to Alinea Analytics, the 100 most profitable games released in 2026 brought in a combined total of about $2.4 billion, or 15.9% of all Steam revenue for the first eight months of the year. Established franchises accounted for 52.5% of the revenue from this top 100.
Among the most successful new releases, analysts highlight Forza Horizon 6 (roughly $210.5 million on Steam), Crimson Desert ($203.3 million), and Resident Evil Requiem ($200.9 million). The six largest new games of 2026 collectively generated just under $1 billion.
