ATS and the 2021 Steam Awards: Labor of Love nomination
On 24 November 2021, SCS Software asked its community to support one of the studio’s truck simulators in the Steam Awards. Nominations opened alongside the Steam Autumn Sale, and SCS highlighted the Labor of Love category.
Why Labor of Love fitted the message
The category recognizes games that continue to receive updates and new content years after launch. American Truck Simulator had been evolving since February 2016, with map expansions, vehicles and improvements to the base game. SCS presented that long-running development as the reason players might consider ATS or Euro Truck Simulator 2.
The announcement did not say that ATS had become a finalist or won an award. It was a call for community nominations. SCS also recalled that ETS2 had received two awards during the first Steam Awards in 2016.
The 2021 nomination phase
The November announcement covered the community nomination phase before Valve selected the finalists and winners. SCS did not present American Truck Simulator as a finalist or award recipient.
