Alan Ritchson’s New Action Movie Looks Absolutely Unhinged

Alan Ritchson, the powerhouse talent behind Reacher and War Machine, continues to cement his reputation as modern cinema’s quintessential tough guy with his latest project: the gritty 1970s revenge thriller, Motor City. Ritchson portrays John Miller, a blue-collar romantic whose life is upended when a calculated setup by a vicious crime boss lands him behind bars. Upon his release, he embarks on a relentless pursuit of vengeance.

The film prioritizes adrenaline-fueled intensity over exposition. In fact, the production is so focused on kinetic storytelling that, according to cast members, the entire script contains only five lines of dialogue.

A new exclusive preview reveals Miller’s brutal approach to retribution. Beyond his formidable physical presence, Miller utilizes a sawed-off shotgun—and when ammo runs low, he resorts to unorthodox, improvised weaponry. Viewers should prepare for one of the most creative and wince-inducing kills in recent memory, involving little more than an engagement ring and a handful of loose change.

By stripping away verbal clutter, Motor City leans heavily into a high-octane rock soundtrack and precision sound engineering to craft a visceral, heartbeat-pounding spectacle. Produced by the Independent Film Company, the feature also stars Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber, Ben Foster, and Ben McKenzie. The narrative was penned by Chad St. John, known for his work on London Has Fallen, and directed by Potsy Ponciroli (Old Henry).

Following its debut at the Venice Film Festival, Motor City is scheduled for a wide theatrical release on July 24.
