Netflix is officially developing a third installment of the popular comedy franchise, Grown Ups.
Adam Sandler is set to reprise his lead role, in addition to serving as a co-writer and producer. Kyle Newacheck (Happy Gilmore 2) has been tapped to direct the project. A definitive release date has yet to be announced.
The original Grown Ups premiered in 2010, followed by a sequel in 2013. The story centers on a group of childhood friends who reunite following the passing of their beloved basketball coach.
The franchise’s star-studded ensemble has featured Chris Rock, Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, and Maya Rudolph, among others. Collectively, the films have grossed over $500 million at the global box office.
