Actor Who Played Niko in GTA 4 “Returns” to His Role
Earlier this month, Michael Hollick, who voiced Niko Bellic, the protagonist of GTA 4, created an account on Cameo. This service allows celebrities to record greetings and wishes for fans for a fee.
Why is this noteworthy? At one point, the actor, surprised by the financial success of Grand Theft Auto IV, requested a larger sum from Rockstar Games than he was paid ($100,000 for voice work and motion capture), but was denied. Since then, he distanced himself from the popular video game series, though he was the first from the GTA cast to appear as a guest at Comic Con (San Diego in 2008). Now, he has unexpectedly decided to return to the media space to delight fans, without forgetting his most significant role.
He is not the first of the franchise’s forgotten voices to step out of the shadows recently. This year, Young Maylay, who voiced another protagonist, CJ from GTA: San Andreas, has been appearing at exhibitions and meetings. Perhaps we will soon see Michael Hollick there as well.
