Filming for the sequel to “A Minecraft Movie” is officially scheduled to begin in April 2026. The news was shared by lead actor Jason Momoa during a recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show. Momoa spoke highly of the script for the second installment, noting that it is a significant improvement over the first and was so humorous it had him laughing out loud while reading.
Jared Hess is confirmed to return as director for the follow-up. The cinematic project is inspired by the iconic sandbox game that first debuted in 2009 and became a global phenomenon.
The worldwide theatrical release is currently slated for July 23, 2027.
