A documentary about Elizabeth Holmes to be released in Russia
The distribution company Volga will release the documentary “You Can See Everything” in Russian cinemas. The new project from directors Nathan Fielder (“The Curse,” “The Rehearsal”) and Lance Oppenheim (“Prime Time”) arrives on screens on November 19.
The film follows Elizabeth Holmes, the former entrepreneur. In 2003 she founded the medical startup Theranos, which promised to make blood draws for lab tests as painless as possible but turned out to be a fraudulent scheme. In 2018 Holmes was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
“You Can See Everything” begins a month before her incarceration, when Holmes invites a film crew to document her life in every detail. The project gradually grows into a three-year odyssey in which the line between reality and fiction steadily dissolves.
Critics have praised the film enthusiastically, giving it 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and 98 out of 100 on Metacritic. Until now, the best-known screen adaptation of Holmes’s story was the Hulu series “The Dropout,” starring Amanda Seyfried.
