A Biopic About Anatoly Kashpirovsky Is in the Works in Russia
A biographical project centered on the Soviet psychotherapist and television personality Anatoly Kashpirovsky is currently in the works. The announcement was made by comedian and co-creator of the upcoming film, Ilya Sobolev.
“We didn’t intend to reveal this just yet, but recent developments will clearly spark a wave of films and series about him. So, perhaps the time has come to share that we have been deeply involved in this project for quite some time. My goal is to portray Kashpirovsky not merely as a meme or a relic of the chaotic 90s, alongside figures like Mavrodi, Berezovsky, or Dorenko, but as an individual who seemed to genuinely believe in his capacity to heal. Whether it was true or simply an immense conviction in himself—that is precisely what we want to explore. And yes, this story will feature another prominent actor and someone else you all know very well. I won’t disclose who they are or their roles just yet,”
— Sobolev stated on his Instagram* (a platform owned by Meta, which is designated as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
Kashpirovsky passed away on October 3rd at the age of 87. He rose to national prominence in the late 1980s, when he conducted remote “healing” sessions that captivated millions of Soviet viewers.
