98 Degrees have just the thing to cool down this scorching summer. The Cincinnati-bred boy band take a cruise down L.A. streets in a yellow Chevy convertible truck in the new video for their hot-weather bop “Where Do You Wanna Go.”
After firing up the grill for a pool-side backyard barbecue, brothers Drew and Nick Lachey, Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons are transported back to their late 1990s heyday via the car’s radio. Nick shows off his buff biceps — and 98 Degrees tat — in a tank top, while Jeffre rocks a throwback bucket hat, Timmons sports a turtleneck, and Drew puts his cap to the back in the Stephanie Pearson-directed clip for the mid-tempo banger about leaving it all behind, hitting the road, and getting lost in the summer night.
“Where do you wanna go?/ Who do you wanna be?/ Got nothing but forever so we can wait and see/ No one to tell us no, no one but you and me/ It doesn’t get much better, got nothing but forever/ Where do you wanna go?” they sing on the chorus.
When Billboard caught up with Nick after he was revealed as the Piglet on the most recent season of The Masked Singer, he was touting the group’s “98 Days of Summer” campaign that led up to this weekend’s release of “Where You Wanna Go.” He said the reunited group also has other new music in the can and more time booked in the studio to complete additional tracks later this summer. “We’ve also done a remix album of all the classic 98 hits,” he said.
“After a year of being on the shelf and not able to do anything, we were anxious to get back together to record some new stuff and give our fans some new stuff to get excited about. We’ve got some shows confirmed for later this year and shows throughout the fall, and we’ll definitely be touring through next year.”
