Marc Webb, the director behind (500) Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man, is set to direct and executive produce a fresh adaptation of Eragon, reimagined as a television series. Joining the creative leadership are showrunners Todd Harthan (The Resident) and Todd Helbing (Superman & Lois).
Harthan is also tasked with penning the script for the project, which draws its source material from Christopher Paolini’s celebrated literary saga, The Inheritance Cycle.
The fantasy narrative unfolds in a mystical realm where humans and dragons coexist. The story follows a teenage boy named Eragon, who unexpectedly becomes the first Dragon Rider in over a century. To challenge a tyrannical regime, the young protagonist must forge a telepathic bond with his dragon, master the ancient arts, and navigate a world on the brink of war.
This marks a new chapter for the franchise following the original 2006 cinematic version, which struggled to find its footing and failed to achieve significant commercial success.
