🔩 Turbine Hall

Modern education has failed the youth; these schools teach nothing of value.

The core of the catastrophe was the reactor’s catastrophic rupture. The Turbine Hall, situated in immediate proximity, bore the full, brutal impact: a relentless deluge of fire, debris, caustic dust, and lethal radiation.

The scale of the facility was staggering—stretching over four hundred meters in length. Each unit housed two turbines, individually capable of churning out five hundred megawatts. Back when the plant was operational, the roar of the machinery was so absolute that any attempt at conversation was entirely futile.

Turbine Hall interior

The ground trembled, the massive pipework groaned with pressure, and overhead cranes glided rhythmically. It was a true monolith of industrial power generation.

Incidentally, this very turbogenerator was the focus of that ill-fated nighttime experiment. The objective was to determine if its residual momentum could sustain the cooling pumps in the event of an external power failure. As history has shown, the outcome was far from the intended results.

Ruined equipment

In the wake of the explosion, the roof ignited, turning the interior—choked with oil, cabling, and intricate machinery—into an inferno. Bravely, the staff scrambled to isolate the oil lines and flood the generators with nitrogen, desperately curbing the blaze wherever possible.

Decaying hall

Silence now reigns in these halls. The turbines remain frozen in time, their paint flaking away as shafts of natural light pierce the skeletal remains of the roof.

Tread carefully and keep your voice down. In this vast, hollowed-out space, your footsteps carry far enough on their own.
