Zooey Deschanel and Walton Goggins have signed on to appear in Dreamin’ Wild, the Bill Pohlad-directed feature film based on the lives of Donnie & Joe Emerson, Deadline reports. Casey Affleck, Beau Bridges, and Chris Messina have also been cast. Affleck and Goggins are set to play Donnie and Joe Emerson as adults, respectively; Deschanel is set to play Donnie’s wife Nancy. Pohlad’s last feature was the 2014 Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy

Dreamin’ Wild takes its name from the sole album recorded by the Emerson brothers in 1979. It was rediscovered and reissued in 2012; its success led to the 2014 release of Still Dreamin’ Wild: the Lost Recordings 1979-81, a collection of demos from Donnie’s first years in Los Angeles. Ariel Pink and Dâm-Funk made cameos in the video for Dreamin’ Wild cut “Big Money.”
