Yves Tumor Calls Out “Corniest People” After Being Booed While Opening for Swedish House Mafia

Yves Tumor issued a rebuttal after sections of the crowd booed their opening performance for Swedish House Mafia.

The set occurred on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York. Fan-shot clips circulating online show the artist delivering abrasive, industrial-tinged material while at times lying on the decks; several videos also capture audible boos from parts of the audience.

After the show, Tumor used Instagram Stories to describe being booed offstage and to criticize the audience’s reaction, calling the reception shocking and deeply disappointing. They also posted footage that appears to show debris being thrown at a poster of New York City and suggested the crowd’s hostility surpassed negative experiences in other cities they’d played.

In additional Stories, Tumor shared screenshots of hostile messages and mockery aimed at the performance, writing that detractors were already mass-commenting on their posts. When asked about the music’s genre, one reply the artist highlighted described the backlash as racially charged.

One screenshot that circulated online showed a text from Swedish House Mafia’s creative director, Alexander Wessely, apologizing for the incident and praising Tumor’s set, calling it strong and saying the band members loved the performance.

The exchange sparked wider conversation on social platforms. In the comments on an EDM House Network post about the incident, producer deadmau5 observed that the thread illustrated ongoing cultural tensions within the electronic-music community as underground and mainstream audiences collide.

Representatives for Yves Tumor did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Swedish House Mafia are scheduled to play in New York City again on Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at Under the K Bridge Park in Brooklyn. Their Arthur Ashe Stadium appearance marked the first time an electronic act headlined that venue.
