Amazon MGM has officially parted ways with Luca Guadagnino’s biopic, Artificial, according to a report from Puck.
The project chronicles the professional journey of OpenAI’s controversial co-founder, Sam Altman, and is currently seeking a new distributor. Previous reports suggested that the premiere might be pushed to 2027 to avoid direct competition with Social Reckoning, the upcoming sequel to The Social Network centered on Mark Zuckerberg.
Amazon MGM has yet to provide a statement regarding the decision. The film was widely anticipated as a potential contender for this year’s Venice Film Festival. The cast features Andrew Garfield as Altman, Yura Borisov as OpenAI’s former chief scientist Ilya Sutskever, and Monica Barbaro, among others.
